Date Energy Balls Recipe – Sweet and Nutritious Bites
Ingredients
These easy-to-make energy balls are natural, flavorful, and customizable—perfect for a healthy treat or snack!
For the base:
- ½ cup milk: Hazelnut, coconut, or regular – your choice
- 300 grams of Medjool dates: Chopped
- A pinch of salt: To balance the flavors
- ⅓ cup high-quality cocoa powder: For a rich chocolatey taste
- ½ cup roasted hazelnuts or almonds, coarsely chopped
- 1 tablespoon hazelnut butter (optional, but adds great depth and flavor)
For coating:
- Cocoa powder
Instructions
- Prepare the base:
- Place the Medjool dates, milk, and salt in a bowl and heat them in the microwave or over a bain-marie (a bowl over simmering water).
- Remove from heat and add the hazelnut butter (if using). Mix well, ensuring the milk is fully incorporated into the date mixture to form a sticky batter.
- Add the cocoa and nuts:
- Stir in the cocoa powder and chopped roasted hazelnuts or almonds. Mix well to distribute the nuts evenly while maintaining their texture.
- Shape the balls:
- With slightly damp hands (or use coconut oil for extra ease and flavor), roll the mixture into small, uniform balls.
- Coat in cocoa powder:
- Roll the balls in cocoa powder to evenly coat them on all sides.
- Chill and serve:
- Transfer the balls to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least two hours to set.
- Store in the fridge for up to a week (if they last that long!).
Pro Tip for Extra Flair:
For a festive look and unique flavors, coat some of the balls in:
- Shredded coconut
- Crushed nuts
- Toasted sesame seeds
Enjoy these sweet, nutritious bites as a quick snack, post-workout boost, or guilt-free dessert! 🍫
